SEPTEMBER, 2006
Our committee chair, Elizabeth Carey, was very pleased
with the success of the South End Concierge Event. Over 40 Concierges
came to the South End stroll which included numerous stops at SEBA
members’ businesses.
The evening ended at 28 Degrees with raffles and goodie bags.

South End Style shows good work always in style
Well-dressed and stylish South Enders — including State
Rep. Byron Rushing and Frieda Garcia — flocked to the Boston
Center for the Arts Cyclorama on May 4 for the second annual
South End Style fashion show and fundraiser held by the South
End Business Alliance. The well-attended event was a true fashion-show
experience, complete with meandering models showing off the beautiful
work of local designers Sara Campbell, Denise Hajjar, David Joseph,
M Miller, Daniel Faucher and L Coulter, as well as ensembles by
Uniforms’s Gary Ritacco, and of course, the evening’s
centerpiece event, the catwalk fashion show. Restaurants such as
Above and Beyond Catering (the Little Window), Bob’s Southern
Bistro, Tremont 647, Picco, Pho Republique and Davio’s were
on hand to serve up tasty finger-foods, and there was enough Bacardi
available, thanks to the event’s in-kind sponsors, to make
sure most people had a great time.
Attendees also had silent auctions items from more than 60 area
merchants to choose from, including the requisite Red Sox and Patriots
tickets, as well as a leather lounge chair and ottoman donated
by Comina, Inc., a gift basket from Aunt Sadie’s valued at
$400, and a new kid’s bicycle from Community Bicycle.
Proceeds from the event, which SEBA president Dewey Nichols said
exceeded last year’s $35,000, will benefit to the Hurley
School, United South End Settlements, Project Place, and Rosie’s
Place.
